Continental AirlinesContinental Airlines

Continental Airlines was founded over 70 years ago by Walter T. Varney and his partner Louis Mueller as Varney Speed Lines. Mueller sold 40 percent of the new company to Robert F. Six, who led the company for more than 40 years. On July 1, 1937 the company's name was changed to Continental Airlines. Continental serves about 135 domestic and 125 international markets from hubs in Cleveland, Houston, and Newark, New Jersey. The subsidiary Continental Micronesia serves the western Pacific from Guam, and regional carriers operating as Continental Express and Continental Connection extend the airline's network.
